One of the features that has often been requested for KStars is Real Time Stacking. So I decided to invest some time into writing some algorithms that could be used to process, align and stack images on the fly while you are capturing more. I made quite a bit of progress as these screenshots will attest, but we decided to put off actually finishing this and implementing real time stacking until we work out some pesky KStars bugs and improve the overall user experience. But I did a successful test of the real time stacking algorithms in capturing this sequence of the Flaming Star Nebula on February 8th, 2018. It only took a few seconds to stack the image as it came in and it continued the sequence. Hopefully we will come back to this feature and finish the code.
